CIRCLE OF SECURITY

We offer the Circle of Security Parenting Program in a variety of different styles to best suit parent’s needs. Whether in a group, individually or online, we are here to help parents learn how to cultivate a secure attachment to their children. Circle of Security offers parents the chance to learn how to best meet their children’s attachment needs while fostering growth and development, even while raising children in separate households.

SINGLE  SESSION CONSULTATIONS

We offer consultation sessions comprising of a half-day session with each parent individually followed by either a joint feedback session or a written summary of feedback and suggestions. The consultation includes some education, resource information, and a discussion of parenting obstacles.

INFANT AND CHILD MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENTS

An infant Mental Health Assessment evaluates the infant or child’s emotional well-being, the quality of his/her significant relationship and identifies the factors that should be taken into account in crafting a developmentally sensitive parenting plan tailored to the child’s temperament, health, developmental progress and key relationships. IMH assessments have been well-received by Queen’s Bench and Provincial Courts throughout Alberta, BC and the Yukon.

VOICE OF THE CHILD REPORTS

A Voice of the Child report gives a description of the family context and describes the child’s experience of living in the current parenting plan. It outlines the child’s preferences, worries and important messages for decision-makers. The report will discuss any concerns regarding parental coaching or influence.

THERAPEUTIC ACCESS

Originating in Ontario, TA is designed for parents who are seeking to have a supervision requirement lifted due to concerns related to child maltreatment or intimate partner violence. TA can also assist parents seeking to reunite with a child after an absence of contact. TA builds on the traditional supervision model by providing targeted coaching and interventions to the parent prior to and during supervised parenting time to improve their parenting skills and instill confidence in their parenting capacity.

CHILD WELFARE CONSULTATIONS

As experienced child welfare assessors, case managers, supervisors and consultants, we are well-equipped to provide support, system navigation and expertise in CYFEA policy and procedures.

LITIGATION SUPPORT

We offer research summaries and consultations to lawyers who are litigating matters involving infants and toddlers, including advice regarding developmentally sensitive parenting plans, father involvement, breast-feeding, introducing overnight access plans, intimate partner violence and child maltreatment.

SAFE HOME STUDIES

SAFE is a regulated and structured home study process that is widely used by child welfare agencies to effectively and systematically evaluate prospective families for guardianship, foster and adoptive placement.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAININGS

We offer a variety of trainings on child development, domestic violence in the context of parenting and parenting disputes, child welfare, attachment. We also offer one hour learn at lunch trainings at no charge. These trainings can be changed to suit your groups specific needs, please contact us for more info.
